What is MEF?


MEF is a nonprofit organization run by parents and is solely dedicated to supporting every student, every day, from TK through 12th grade attending public schools in Moraga.

Founded in 1981, The Moraga Education Foundation's mission is to raise funds to preserve and enhance educational opportunities for all students, through a broad-based community effort. We believe that great schools are the cornerstone of a strong community.

Over our history, MEF’s role has evolved. Initially, the foundation provided limited educational enhancements and teacher’s grants costing less than $30,000.  Today, MEF funds critical educational programs at almost $2 million annually.

These funds along, with local parcel taxes, help make up the lack of state funding to our schools ensuring every student receives the quality education required to reach their full potential. 

MEF also has an endowment fund that was created to provide a self- perpetuation source of income for Moraga schools.  An investment in the MEF Endowment Fund is an investment in the future of Moraga schools for generations to come.

MEF’s board of directors consists of parents, community members and PTA presidents from each of the 3 elementary schools and JM and Campolindo Parents Club President.
