The Camino Pablo Student Council is a service organization. Twice a year elections are held to elect three fourth grade representatives and four fifth grade representatives. An alternate for each grade level is also elected. During the year, on good weather Fridays, student council members sell low-fat ice cream and popsicles. Money raised from these sales allows the student council to have prizes for the school's annual Halloween costume contest. Friday treat profits are also used to fund prizes for student council sponsored lunchtime tournaments such as dodge ball tournaments or basketball tournaments. Most years, student council also purchases a gift for the school. In past years, some of these gifts have included pads for the basketball poles and the installation of tetherball poles.
As leaders of the school community, student council also promotes a positive school community by drawing blue slips every Friday, leading audiences in the Pledge of Allegiance at assemblies, and planning and running a school wide spirit week. In addition, in order to aid needy people in the Bay Area community, at least once a year, student council sponsors a food drive.
These are some of the responsibilities of the Camino Pablo Student Council. Throughout the year, student council is often called upon to do other tasks, such as putting clothes left in the lost and found in the front quad, going around to classes and making public service announcements, manning the parking gates during school events and leading fund raising drives to help others in need. The Camino Pablo Student Council plays an integral part in making the C.P. community a happy, productive place.
The student council, which is facilitated by Mrs. Fallon and Mr. Adler, meets on Mondays in the Conference Room.
