Camino Pablo conducted its 5th Annual Spelling Bee Program sponsored on behalf of CP PTA and coordinated by parent volunteers in conjunction with school officials.
In preparation for the spelling bee, students in grades 3-5 are given grade appropriate, in-classroom spelling aptitude tests administered by their teacher. The top 18 spellers (2 from each class) are offered the opportunity to participate in the School Spelling Bee in the Multi-Use Room. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will attend this morning Assembly and support their peers in this academic competition. The Camino Pablo Spelling Bee is patterned after the Scripps National Spelling Bee—one student will be deemed be winner and given the opportunity to go on to the next level and attend the Contra Costa Spelling Bee (Walnut Creek) in late March.
The champion of each County Bee program qualifies for participation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C which takes place in late April (date TBD).
The purpose of the Program is to help students not only improve their spelling and increase their vocabularies but to learn concepts, develop correct English usage and develop a love for spelling and the Spelling Bee Programs nationwide!
