Spelling Bee

Camino Pablo Spelling Bee 2018

Camino Pablo conducts an Annual Spelling Bee Program sponsored on behalf of the CP PTA and is coordinated by parent volunteers in conjunction with school officials.

In preparation for the Spelling Bee, students in grades 3-5 are given an in-classroom spelling aptitude test administered by their teacher. The top 18 spellers (two from each class) are offered the opportunity to participate in the CP Spelling Bee on February 9th. Parents are also invited to attend to support these students in this academic competition!

The Camino Pablo Spelling Bee is patterned after the Scripps National Spelling Bee—one student will be deemed the winner and will be given the opportunity to go on to the next level: the County Spelling Bee in late March.

The County Spelling Bee winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. There will be other prizes as well, including reference books and gift certificates.

The purpose of the Program is to help students not only improve their spelling and increase their vocabularies but to learn key concepts, develop correct English usage and foster a love for spelling!

Our timeline for the Camino Pablo 2018 Spelling Bee is as follows:
